Upper Saddle River Second Floor Home Renovation

We could always use just a little more space: an extra bedroom for guests, another bathroom so fewer people have to share, an added hangout space for hosting. Renovations can accomplish these dreams, and Loughlin & Son Construction handles projects big and small to add comfort — and value — to your home.

For this particular project, the entire second level was reconfigured, a major undertaking that was well worth the effort to give these Bergen County homeowners plenty of more space for their family.

Adding Three Extra Bedrooms, and Then Some

This renovation transformed and truly opened up this Upper Saddle River home. The impressive scale of the project included the addition of three bedrooms, a new bathroom, and a large closet for storage. Once complete, the renovation added 1,000 square feet of living space to the reconfigured second floor.

A Renovation Is All in the Details

The same wood flooring was used throughout: bright and warm 2 ¼” white oak. That flooring spans the wide hallways and bedrooms all along the second floor, and there are also plenty of windows in each room to bring in natural light and give the spaces an airy feel. Every room has its own unique paint color to distinguish each space: greens, tans, blues, and whites are employed throughout to create a shared cozy palette.

While each room may have its own flavor, there are shared trims throughout. A handsome white trim is found around each door and window on the second floor; Loughlin & Son Construction hires locally, and those were installed by Five Star Millwork in Pearl River.

This second-floor, spacious full bathroom has a large shower with white subway tiling, a custom-made glass door, and inset pockets for storing soaps and products. The floor tiling mimics the shape and style of sandy stones, and those bathroom tiles and fixtures were provided by Porcelanosa in Ramsey. Touch of Glass fabricated and installed the wide shower door. Additionally, the bathroom has its own window, a large sink with a dark wood vanity and many drawers, and more subway tiles above the faucet to act as a backsplash and tie in the same tiles on the shower wall.

 Two Floors, Twice the Fun

This home renovation project was completed in a timely manner, adding a master bedroom to the second floor along with two other bedrooms and a new bathroom. A second story doubles the size of a house, and this reconfiguration made the most of this space to add more rooms and upgrades, improving the quality of the home and also drastically increasing its real estate value.
