Master Bedroom and Bathroom Remodel in Upper Saddle River
The master bedroom is your private home within a home, and if you’re lucky enough to also have a bathroom off of it plus a walk-in closet, this corner of the house can also become a spacious haven. Perfect as these havens are, even this little oasis needs to be updated now and then. Loughlin & Son Construction recently completed a master suite renovation — including bedroom, bathroom, and closet — in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey.
New, Larger Bathroom
The new spa bathroom is the feature of the suite’s renovation. We broke through a wall into the adjacent bedroom to add additional space to the bathroom and relocated the toilet to expand the shower area. Once the framing was complete, we installed insulation and sheetrock to the main walls and waterproofed the shower area, as well as strategically placed high hats for optimum lighting.
The homeowners chose stunning tile for the flooring, walls, and shower that resembled Carrara marble, which coordinates beautifully with the tile feature and flooring in the shower. The glass shower enclosure helps the space feel more open and bright, and the gorgeous soaking tub from Porcelanosa, vanity with double sinks, contemporary toilet, and fixtures from Ferguson transform the space into a true oasis. We think taking the tile half-way up the walls of the room caps off the luxurious spa feel.
Updating the Master
We also breathed new life into the master bedroom with 2 ¼” red oak flooring. The client chose all of the materials, which Loughlin & Son procured, to customize this special room. These materials made the room a welcoming space as farther in the master bedroom is the master bath and new closet.
Adding the Closet
The master bedroom did not have a large closet before this renovation, and this part of the job proved crucial in giving the client the space needed to complete their dream suite. Next to the master suite was another bedroom, so in creating our plans, we decided to cut into that bedroom by about two feet to give extra space to the bathroom, and the rest of the space in that unused bedroom was converted into the master’s sprawling closet. This completed the trifecta: the bedroom got new floors, the bathroom got larger, and now a whole new massive closet was added on to give the client all the space they could need in their picture-perfect master suite.
