This recent kitchen renovation in Valley Cottage, New York was a joy for Loughlin & Son Construction. For this project, our team also had the chance to couple it with a dining area renovation. This made the project all the more exciting and personal, letting us work with the client to create a cohesive sense of flow and unity between those neighboring rooms. A complete kitchen renovation, we worked down to the studs and rebuilt a space the client was super happy with. See each part of our process below.

Reconfiguring the Kitchen Footprint

With experience in excavation, demolition, and wiring, we are proud to say that Loughlin & Son, as a family business with years of experience, does it all. As such, reframing the walls for this client was no major issue, and doing so allowed us to also install two new windows. This invited way more natural light into the home, which both brightens it up and saves on electricity: fewer lights are needed when the sun is doing the job for you.

We installed spray foam insulation to maximize heat retention, along with sheetrock for the walls and a new trim to give the entire room and each border a clean look. Once the walls were set, we also played with some open shelving to create a more airy and lighter look in the kitchen. This modernized it and gave more room for storage.

 

Collaborating to Create a Stunning Kitchen

We are proud to not only work well with our clients but also to have a number of kitchen contractors and designers who do stunning work in executing a client’s vision. Designer Kitchens by Schneider handled the kitchen design, including its new cabinets and counters, and we installed the white subway tile backsplash. Easy to clean and always neat, this backsplash is a fan favorite for a reason.

New Floors Seal the Deal

The client had some fun with color, including a foggy blue for the kitchen island base and the cabinets above it. The cabinets around the sink had their own wooden coloring, which meant the floors could also stand on their own. Long, rectangular planks of a sunnier wood bring some more brightness to the room and extend over into the dining area to have one cohesive floor between both spaces, as well as the rest of the main floor. Our team handled this install, which, like every other element, is delivered on time and on budget to guarantee client satisfaction.

New Railing Installation

The client had railings off of the kitchen and living area that were chipped, outdated, and not the sturdiest. These railings went up from the front door and also down to the lower level. Our team installed new railings that reflect a more modern and cohesive look while also ensuring the banisters’ strength and reliability.
