The kitchen, despite having a good amount of open space, felt rather dim and unwelcoming. The island position was wise, as was the location of the cabinets, so the bones were there. However, the materials and style were outdated, so our team wanted to realize the client’s dream: to create a kitchen that feels bright, airy, and pleasing to the eyes. To do this, our team installed a beam to create more of an open-concept kitchen. Ultimately, this made the kitchen feel more open and larger.

From Dark and Dated to a Clean, White Aesthetic

White is one of those colors that you can do so much with. Kitchens are meant to feel warm and cozy, and this client understood how a simple color can come in various shades to create a welcoming aesthetic. Shifting in tones from egg shell white to a faint grey, the whites here were never cold or off-putting, and in playing with different tones across the countertop, backsplash, and cabinetry, the client succeeded in allowing a single color to be expressed in different ways to create a more dynamic composition. 

This Kitchen Renovation Has All the Bells and Whistles

In addition to removing walls and installing a beam to open this kitchen up, our team installed backsplash, lighting, electrical, flooring, appliances, and new trim. Collaborating with a kitchen design and cabinet company, many groups came together to create the look the client envisioned. This included some fun details, like the beverage fridge that is inset in the cabinet. This provides value, a visual pop, and a fun place to access beverages, creating more space in the fridge. That stainless steel fridge coordinates with the sizable stovetop, oven, and vent hood.
