New Garage Build in Scarsdale, NY

At Loughlin & Son Construction, we help homeowners bring their visions to life throughout Bergen, Rockland, and Westchester Counties. Whether it’s reworking a single room, taking on a full renovation, or a new build, we focus on understanding how you want to live in your home and building spaces that feel comfortable, functional, and personal. Our goal is simple: make the process clear, the experience smooth, and the end result something you’re proud to come home to every day. One recent example is this new garage build we completed in Scarsdale, New York.
Some projects start with a vision, others start with necessity. In this case, it was both. The existing garage at this Scarsdale, New York home had stood for nearly a century. Time had taken its toll: the structure was leaning, the door could no longer open properly, and safety had become a real concern. It was clear that a repair wouldn’t be enough – it needed a fresh start.
Demolishing the Old Garage
There’s something satisfying about the clean slate that comes with demolition. The original 100-year-old garage was carefully torn down, making room for something new, safe, and built to last. Every piece removed brought us one step closer to rebuilding a structure that would not only serve its purpose but complement the character of the home.

Building the Foundation for the New Garage
Once the old garage was gone, it was time to start building from the ground up. We dug for a brand-new foundation to ensure long-term stability and strength. Pouring and setting a solid concrete base is one of the most important steps in any new build, and this one was no exception. The new foundation provided the perfect start for the structure that was about to take shape above it.

Framing the Walls
With the foundation set, the framing began. This is when the project really started to come to life. You could finally see the outline of the new garage with the 16-foot door opening, the proportions of the walls, and the clean lines that would define the space. Framing is where plans on paper turn into something tangible, and it’s always one of the most exciting moments on site.
Installing the Roof
For the roof, the homeowners chose slate to give the new garage a refined, classic look that never goes out of style. The rich color and clean lines instantly elevate the structure, tying it beautifully into the character of the home. Slate has a way of making a building feel grounded and elegant at the same time, and here, it adds the perfect finishing touch.
Siding that’s Built to Last
For the siding, the homeowner went with James Hardie – a material known for its strength, longevity, and low maintenance. It’s resistant to fire, pests, and harsh weather, which means it can stand up to the changing seasons without constant upkeep. Beyond its performance, James Hardie siding delivers great aesthetic appeal. Its crisp lines and smooth finish helped the new garage blend seamlessly with the home while adding a polished, modern touch.

Adding Eye-Catching Gutters to this New Garage
To finish the exterior, we installed custom-ordered copper gutters. The rich, warm tones of the copper elevate the overall look, adding a touch of character that will only get better with age. Over time, these gutters will develop a natural patina – a subtle reminder of craftsmanship that stands the test of time.

The Garage Interior
Inside, the garage was built with practicality and comfort in mind. A regular concrete floor provides durability for daily use, while outlets and recessed lighting make the space functional and bright. Every detail was considered to ensure it works as beautifully as it looks.
A Perfect Complement to the Home
Now complete, this new garage is everything the old one couldn’t be: strong, safe, and built to last another century. It complements the beauty of the Scarsdale home while providing the functionality and reliability the homeowners needed.
What began as a necessary rebuild has become a standout feature that blends craftsmanship, durability, and thoughtful design into a structure that fits the home perfectly.
