Siding and Roofing Installation in Suffern, NY
They say it’s important to make a first impression. When it comes to houses, your siding is that first impression — it’s the very first thing neighbors and visitors will see when they come to your home. As such, good siding can immediately make your home look younger, up its value, and make it feel more inviting. The good news is it is actually not that invasive of a project and can be accomplished in a timely manner.
In Suffern, New York, one home was in need of a facelift — the construction equivalent of new siding. This house had had the same siding and roofing for over twenty years, so needless to say a renovation would be welcome. See how Loughlin & Son Construction transformed this suburban home’s ordinary exterior into something modern and dynamic.
Before the Transformation
This Suffern, ranch-style home had mismatched wooden panels as its siding; on the left side of the home near the garage there were overlapping, yellow cedar, and on the right side near the main entrance there were vertical wooden panels. The shape, layout, and color didn’t totally match, so the homeowner was looking for something more stylish, contemporary, and uniform. Since the exterior hadn’t changed in two decades, it was ready for something fresh and exciting to up the home’s value and make it feel brand new.
New Siding
The house got a major upgrade via new siding in a strong color and consistent patterns. The homeowners moved from tawny yellow shingles to ocean blue siding in one solid hue running along the facade, sides, and back of the home for a much more consistent design. 25 square of siding was used along the exterior of the home, giving it a fresh look that makes it feel 20 years younger.
Plus a New Roof
The roof, too, is an important part of one’s facade and the protection of the home. This Suffern house had had the same roofing for 20 years and it was beginning to leak. For the sake of safety and looks, the roofing needed to be updated, and accomplishing this alongside your siding is a smart decision: the two jobs can go hand in hand.
35 square of new architectural shingles went into the roofing, which also now features VELUX skylights to let natural light into the home. Installing skylights is great for plants, for upping the mood of your home, and for saving on electricity as the sun will be more sustainable than any overhead lights. Finally, copper flashing was added around the base of the chimney to help distinguish it from the roof’s shingles.
